How to install Gemi Chimney Fan?

One of the many features of Gemi Elettronica's chimney fan is that installation is DIY.
There is no need for a specialized technician to do it, if you have a bit of skill with chimneys, you can do it yourself.

Gemi Elettronica's chimney fan can be mounted on any chimney flue, regardless of its shape. It can be mounted on round flues as well as square or rectangular flues.

If you have a circular flue pipe, you need to communicate the external diameter, and Gemi Elettronica will provide the chimney fan with the correct size round adapter.
You need to communicate the external diameter because the adapter at the base of the chimney fan must be inserted externally to the flue exit.

On the other hand, if the flue exit has a square or rectangular shape, Gemi Elettronica will provide the chimney fan with a kit of adjustable brackets.
The adjustable brackets can be adjusted to square or rectangular shapes ranging from 20x20 centimeters to 43x43 centimeters. Indeed, the first thing you will see when you open the chimney fan package are the adjustable brackets with the installation instructions and the speed controller.

The first thing to do is to take measurements from the flue exit, so you can already adjust the adjustable brackets in the package by calculating 1 centimeter more than the measurements of the exit.
Fasten the brackets to the base of the chimney fan with the screws provided in the package by Gemi Elettronica.
Position the chimney fan on the flue and secure it with the two larger screws included in the package.

If you have a pipe inside a square masonry, and the two exits are at the same level, you must install the chimney fan with square or rectangular adjustable brackets covering the empty space between the pipe and the masonry with mortar or sheet metal.

If instead you have multiple round flue pipes inside a square masonry, you need to extend the flue where the chimney fan should be inserted and install the model with a round adapter.

If the dimensions of the flue exceed 43x43 centimeters (for example, 50x50 centimeters), place the base of the chimney fan directly on the exit, securing it to the masonry at the 4 corners where there are already 4 holes and using the larger brackets as support.

Finally, if only two of the four sides are larger than 43 centimeters and the other two are smaller than 43 centimeters (for example, 45x40 centimeters), the installation of the chimney fan must be done with the smaller brackets.

The last step to take, before fully enjoying your fireplace thanks to Gemi Elettronica's Chimney Fan, is the electrical connection.

The connection can be done in two ways: externally to the flue with the 3x1.5 cable, or internally to the flue using our high-temperature resistant cable that must be purchased separately.

Start from the chimney fan and run the cable along the flue until you reach the speed controller, which is usually placed inside the house. In the speed controller, you must connect the two wires of the chimney fan (where it says MOTOR), the two common wires of the grounding of the system and the chimney fan, and the two power wires (where it says 220 V).

After these simple and quick steps, the Gemi Elettronica chimney fan is ready to be used to eliminate the chimney smoke problem.
